Born to the Oronir by parents who wished for a child they could be proud of. She garnered attention almost immediately when she was born with an oddly golden right eye. Given her mother had a pair of blue eyes, this was seen as Azim directly blessing their daughter.
Being told this growing up led to a chip on the young Cotan's shoulder. Enough Oronir started to believe it when Cotan proved to be a highly capable warrior. As if that wasn't enough, despite not being born of ugdan parents, on her twelfth nameday, Cotan's fists started emitting a powerful light when she battled.
Because she grew up during a time where the Oronir ruled the Steppe, this led to the highly praised Cotan to become entitled. She thinks herself above almost all others, only offering respect to Magnai and fellow Oronir warriors she feels are close to her in skill. Everyone else is dirt and her's to treat as she sees fit. This led to Cotan developing a sadistic streak.

Fellow Oronir have an easy in. They could know each other! Depending on your character's views, you likely either love her or you hate her. She may even help you out if she thinks you're worthy.
Other Xaela are welcome to have previously fought with her on the Steppe. Her brutality might've caused one to confuse her for a Dotharl, if she wasn't always shouting about the Sun.
She will always be up to bicker with a Dotharl. She will likely dislike you automatically if you're from the Dotharl, but at the very least will she'll have some respect for your combat ability. Unless you're one of those 'weird peaceful Dotharl'.
If you fought at Doma Castle or up in Garlemald, you might recognize this as one of the Xaela Warriors that traveled with the Oronir.
She is sometimes known to visit the Leatherworkers Guild, turning over skins from her kills. She usually bothers people there, but she supplies them with extra resources, so she is barely tolerated.
You may have seen her at night in Thanalan fire dancing.

Cotan's aether is aspected towards Light.
Cotan's right eye does seem to possess just a little bit more aether than her left. Those with an understanding of aether can probably link this to the glow it has. This does let her see in the dark simply due to the light it gives off. This seems to shut off when she closes her eye, allowing her to sleep normally.
Cotan claims she wields the might of the Sun due her blessing by Azim. Those with an understanding of aether can recognize this as Cotan channeling Light aspected aether into her fists, and a potent amount of it. The light detonates with each strike in an aetheric burst, increasing her already considerable striking power. While she's able to maintain this easily, being low on aether causes this talent of her's to cease.
Those with a really strong understanding of aether can gain an understanding this Light magic has a pull to it, devouring ambient aether to sustain it. The behavior of it is similar to a Primal, just on a much smaller level. Given her parent's wishes and the belief of her blessing by fellow Oronir, their faith over time has imbued her with these quirks. She won't believe this, regardless of what proof you present. She's blessed by Azim, clearly.(Don't worry, she still has normal levels of aether. Just Primal levels of arrogance.)
Monks (or those familiar with them) can tell Cotan taps into Chakra Gates.

WARNING: Cotan is both rude and sadistic. It isn't unlikely that she tries to injure or hurt characters that try to provoke her, even if they are non-combatants. However, I will always message you if I think Cotan is about to cross that line. And if you are not comfortable with it, I will not have Cotan get physical.
WARNING: Cotan is racist against any who are not Xaela. While she can gain respect for others, they have to work harder. While this is far from her most extreme trait, if racism bothers you I don't suggest interacting with her.
While Cotan is an inconsiderate jerk, I am not. Please communicate with me if I am making you uncomfortable. I will adjust if I feel I can still stay within character and if I feel I can't, she'll conveniently have somewhere to be.
Freeform RP is preferred if combat happens. I will not appreciate Roll Combat being forced on me. It is a priority of mine when I Freeform Combat that I want my fellow combatant to have as much fun as I do. I will always consider whoever is fighting Cotan their equal unless you specifically tell me otherwise.
Big changes towards the character, such as imprisonment or injuries must be approved by myself.
I avoid Meta-RP and expect the same from others. Anything Cotan learns about you will have to come from interactions. If you have any questions or aren't sure if I'd take something is Meta, feel free to ask me. Though Cotan lacks any real big secrets.
I tend towards medium length posts in smaller interactions. But the more people that become involved in an RP, the shorter my posts get. In combat, I usually wind up making 2-3 posts on average.
